MYSM class 2013 Top15 Rankings

Class: 2013 This is Metro Youth sports Media look at the top players in Minnesota in 2013 class. This years senior class is led by a group of D1 guards and a few seven footers. Many of these seniors have led their teams to great season and have had major impacts on the schools basketball program. This ranking will not include prep school players such as Cullen Russo, Akolda Manyang, Kyle Washington and Darrion Strong.


1)  Quinton Hooker PG 6'0 Park Center- The alpha dog of guards this season, Quinton dominated the competition on his way to the Minnesota high school state championship game. A scoring point guard with elite finishing explosiveness around the rim and body control around the rim. Averaging 23 points 6 assist 8.3 rebounds and 4 seals this season. More of a scorer then shooter Quinton is a play maker, attacks the rim and excels in open court. Quinton had offers from Florida Golf Coast, Wofford and Tulsa. Quinton will be having a major impact next year in the Big Sky Conference playing for North Dakota. 

2) Reggie Lynch C 6'9 Edina- Reggie has the most physical presence inside and defensive impact in this class. Lynch has a impact on every game by controlling the paint and not letting anything easy get to the rim. Reggie possesses superior upper body strength and is a natural shot blocker. Averaging 14.1 points 8.3 rebounds and 5.8 blocks this season while leading his team to the state tournament. Reggie has great upside and is a major recruiting score, on a full basketball scholarship for Illinois State where he will be having a inside presence from day one.

3) Riley Derring SG 6'5 Minnetoka- Skilled shooter with solid athleticism and deep shooting range. Riley is the highest caliber player in this class and  has been on the national radar since the 8th grade. Averaging 20.4 points this season Riley can score on all levels and can heat up for the outside. Riley will have to bulk up to play in the Big 10. Riley will be playing basketball next year at the University of Wisconsin on a full basketball scholarship.

4) Carson Shanks C 7'0 Prior Lake - Carson has the most upside and potential of the 2013 Minnesota prospects. His size and frame is something you can't teach and with the chance that he will be a better collegiate player then high school player Carson's one of players that might be able to play on a professional level from this class. Averaging 10.0 points 7.0 rebounds this season and most likely will produce at same level next year with little drop off. Carson will attend Utah State on a full basketball scholarship.

5) Graham Wooddward PG 6'0 Edina-A scoring point guard with excellent body control around the rim. Graham is a stud and one most prolific scorers in Minnesota this year. Averaging 26.7 points while leading his team to a break out and state tournament appearance. Graham is a elite scorer, but lacks the athleticism and strength to produce early. Will have to wait a year or two before having a impact but will play in the Big 10 at Penn State on a full basketball scholarship.

6) Ben Oberfeld PF 6'9 Eastview -Pure post player, physical inside presents with solid basketball IQ. Averaging 17.3 points 10.1 rebounds this season. Ben has size, strength and plays aggressiveness, with a understanding of his strengths. Should have a role off the bench next season and have a solid collegiate career. Ben will be playing next year for Bucknell University on a basketball scholarship.

7) Anders Broman SG 6'2 Lakeview Christian- The most prolific scorer in Minnesota high school basketball history with over 5,000 career points. Anders is a special player and has scored on a unrealistic pace since starting his high school career . A scorer and a shooter  that  can score from anywhere on the court. Averaging 41 points 8.1 rebounds and 5.0 steals this season.  Has a solid overall guard skill set, excels in a high speed game. Anders should play a role next season, received full scholarship to play basketball South Dakota University. 


8) Joe Aase PF 6'8 Austin- Versatile, stretch forward with solid athleticism and range from deep. Averaging 18.0 points 7.7 rebounds this season and led his team to a undefeated regular season and the 3A state finals. Should have a solid collegiate career but will have to wait for a while to have a major role and impact for his program. Will be playing for Davidson University on a full basketball scholarship.

9) Quashingm Smith-Pugh SG 6'3 St.Paul Johnson - Explosiveness around the rim excels at turning defense to offense and has excellent wing guard package. Averaging 19.9 points 8.1 rebounds and 3.5 steals this season Quashingm led his team to the state tournament this season. Solid overall game his skill set will translate to the next level. Quashingm will be a steal for whatever program he commits to with interest from several programs. 

10) Micheal Miller- PG 6'3 Metro Tech- Miller is a stud and great athlete.Miller has a high caliber physical  and skill set. Size, strength, athleticism and wing span. Averaging 19.7 points 11.3 rebounds while being the primary defense focus.solid ball handling and play making ability. The ability to score from all 3 levels, slashing to the rim and finishing in traffic with range from beyond the arc. Receiving interest from several D1 programs such as Troy Alabama and University of Texas El Paso. Ha s some D2 offers from Lincon Jefferson City Missouri and New Mexico Highlands. Miller should play a role for day one at the program he chooses.

11)  Connor Voss C 7'0 St.Cloud Cathedral- Skilled big man with solid athleticism. Not a pure post player, has the size to have and inside presence also possesses solid perimeter ability. Averaging 8.3 points this season, there will not be much drop off next season. Connor has a good upside and could have a major impact in his upper class years collegiate. Connor's skill set will translate to  production at the next level. Connor will playing in the Ivy League for Columbia on academic scholarship.

12) Garrison Gillard 6'2 PG Maranatha- The most handcuff player this season and one of the most under rated players in the class. Forced to play out of position this season he still displayed his play making ability averaging 15.2 points, 3.6 assist this season. Garrison has high caliber guard skill set and the ability to penetrate the defense off the dribble and stretch the floor from the perimeter with a solid basketball IQ. Should have a good impact for day one and will be one of the best players in the conference. Garrison will be attending Minnesota - Duluth on a basketball scholarship.

13)  Nuni Omot SF 6'7 Mahtomedi-  Great wing span and agility, D1 athleticism with size. Nuni was not the featured player in his teams offense and did not reap the benefits of having plays ran for him. Nuni is a gem, should have a great collegiate career with the possibility of playing professionally. Solid overall wing and perimeter skill set with ton of upside. Nuni is undecided on where he will be attending school at next year. 

14) Logan Doyle PF 6'8 Alexandria- Versatile post forward with great upper body strength and finishing around the rim. skilled in the post with solid athleticism. Logan plays the way a big should dominating on the glass and controlling the paint. Averaging 16.0 points and 14 rebounds this season. Should have a solid collegiate career and play some kind of role this season. Logan will be attending South Dakota State University on a full basketball scholarship. 

15)  Aaron Lien SF/SG 6'5 Morehead- Solid athleticism and wing skill set.  Aaron has the ability to affect the game in many ways, versatile defender and scorer. Averaging 22.0 points 6.2 rebounds this season. Should have a very productive collegiate career and have impact from day one. Aaron will be playing at Morehead State next year on a basketball scholarship .
