Under The Radar Showcase 2014 Reviews and Team's

This year's Under The Radar Showcase was one of the most spectacular basketball events to come to the Twin Cities metro in a long time. Minnesota's talent was on full display during this year's Under The Radar Showcase as a host of the metro area's student athletes gave a show to remember and look forward to for year's to come.

2015 class game

This game was a thrill ride from start to finish as Minnesota's incoming senior class battled it out on the Under The Radar Showcase stage. The Jarvis Johnson vs Marshawn Wilson show was all fans anticipated each displaying their high caliber athleticism and scoring ability. Team Elite would pull off the close win  over Team Hype 74-72 in a nonstop competition.

All Under The Radar Showcase Team

Jarvis Johnson PG, Team Elite, De La Salle, Pulley EYBL

Jarvis showed why he's consider one of the premier point guard prospects nationally, displaying his great play making ability and high flying dunks. Johnson would take over in the last 5 min of the game scoring 7 of his 12 pts.

Sacar Amin SG, Team Elite, De La Salle, Pulley EYBL

Amin took fight during a few times this game giving Islanders fans a taste of what's to come during this fall at De La Salle. Amin preformed at high level during this year's Under The Radar Showcase finishing with 11 pts, 4 reb, 2 ast helping lead Team Elite to the win.

Grantham Gillard SG, Team Hype, Eden Prairie, D1 Minnesota

Gillard had a strong preformance during this year's Under The Radar Showcase game facing a team loaded with the top prospects in the 2015 class. Gillard was one the top prospects from the 2015 class game finishing with 12 pts.

Kyle McKinley PF, Team Elite, Stillwater, Net Gain

McKinley preformed at high level during this year's Under The Radar Showcase showing great production finishing with 8 pts and 5 reb helping lead Team Hype to the win.

Justin Dahl C, Team Hype, Holy Family, Minnesota Basketball Academy

Dahl was all over the floor making major contributions on both sides of the court finishing with 10 pts, 8 reb and a few monster jams.

Dahl was a major force in the paint for Team Hype, the University of Northern Iowa commit was consistent factor in the post earning this year's Under The Radar Showcase MVP.









Under The Radar Player Of The Game: Marshawn Wilson, Team Hype, Hill Murray

Wilson facing a team that consisted of 4 of the top 10 MYSM prospects in the class and 4 projected starters on next year's 3 time defending champions De La Salle team Wilson met the challenge with a smile. Wilson finished with 22 pts leading all scores and a highlight reel of slam explosive dunks.








2016 class game

This year's Under The Radar Showcase 2016's game was something that Minnesota's high school basketball fans will remember as Team Hype gets the job done with the 72-65 win over Team Elite. Both teams competed at a high level giving everyone one a preview of what to expect from this year's in coming high school junior class.


All Under The Radar Showcase Team

Amar Miller PG, Team Elite, Minnetonka, Pulley's EYBL 16's

Miller was his usual self displaying his high caliber play making and scoring ability during this year's Under The Radar Showcase finishing with 12 pts and 6 ast in the 2016's game.

Jarrett Baptiste G, Team Hype, Columbia Heights, Pulley

Baptiste was one of the most exciting players from this year's Under The Radar Showcase Team. Baptiste finished with 7 pts, but his scoring ability was not why he made the team but his rim rocking jams that got the crowd out their seats.

Steffon Mitchell SF, Team Hype, Shakopee, Fury

Mitchell always competes at high level, doing all the simple things to help get his team the win. Mitchell showed great versatility and production scoring 10 pts, 6 reb, 4 ast helping lead Team Hype to the win over Team Elite. 

Reed Nikko PF, Team Hype, Maple Grove, Net Gain 17s

Kikko was one of the most skilled and top forward prospects from this year's Under The Radar Showcase 2016's game displaying great potential and production finishing with 8 pts, 5 reb with a few monster jams on top.

Brock Bertram C, Team Elite, Apple Valley, Pulley EYBL

Bertram was a dominant force during this year's Under The Radar Showcase 2016's game. Bertram finished with 16 pts, 9 reb and was on of the premier performers during this year's event.

Baptiste gave everyone who watched the Under The Radar Showcase 2016's game something to remember with his spectacular aerial attacks on the basket.










Under The Radar Player Of The Game: Teathloach Pal 6'7 F, Team Hype, Fridley, Heat

Pal was ready when his chance came competing at a high level against the top prospects in the class during this year's Under The Radar Showcase 2016's game. Pal finished with 6 pts but also showed he can complete against the top prospects in Minnesota's 2016 class.








2017 class game

This year's Under The Radar Showcase 2017 class game was one of the most anticipated freshman prospects match ups that we have had all summer as the most athletic and top prospects in the class battled it out on the metro's biggest stage. Team Elite would jump out to  Team Elite would end up escaping with the narrow win 49-48.

Kingston Myles G, Team Elite, Tartan, MN Lockdown

Myles was on fire from all over the floor making major contributions to Team Elite's win over Team Hype

Gary Trent Jr SG, Team Elite, Apple Valley,  Pulley's EYBL 16's

Trent played a complete game helping lead Team Elite to the win with his defensive prowess and offensive aggressiveness finishing with 10 pts, 4 reb and the dud.

Jericho Sims F, Team Hype, Cristo Rae

Sims was the definition of a under the radar prospect as he looked as good as any prospect in the class during this year's Under The Radar Showcase 2017's game.

Isaac Johnson SG, Team Hype, Minneapolis North, Pulley

Johnson led all players in scoring finishing with 15 pts scoring 12 in the last 5 min of the game going 4/5 from behind the arc. Johnson was one of the top performers throughout this year's Under The Radar 2017's class game.

Theo John F, Team Elite, Champlin Park, Pulley's EYBL 16's

John was the most impressive forward prospect from this year's Under The Radar Showcase 2017's game controlling the post on both sides of the court. John would finish with 11 pts,  7 reb,  3 blk helping lead Team Elite to the win.

MVP: Gary Trent Jr SG, Team Elite, Pulley's EYBL 16's

Trent was on a mission to win during this year's Under The Radar Showcase 2017's game leading Team to the win. Trent earned the MVP taking on the challenge of guarding Goanar Mar the whole time that they where in the game together.






Under The Radar Player Of The Game: Jericho Sims, Team Elite, Cristo Rae

Sims showed great versatility, skill, potential, production and was one of the biggest surprises of this year's Under The Radar Showcase event. Sim not only could compete with the top prospects . Sims has continued to grow stretching out to about 6'6 since the end of high school basketball season and display a very solid wing skill set. Sims finished with 8 pts, 5 reb, 2 ast as well as hand full of dunks and swatted shots.







2018 class game

This  the 2018 class loaded with potential and as the metro area's top incoming freshman class play a exciting game. Team Elite was ready and waiting as they get the only landslide win of the event defeating Team Hype 72-51.


All Under The Radar Showcase Team

Anders Nelson PG, Team Elite, Edina, D1 Minnesota

Nelson brought his "A" game for this year's Under The Radar Showcase 2018's game helping lead Team Elite to a dominant victory. Nelson showed great potential and production finishing with 13 pts, 5 dimes and a games full of high quality play.

Goodnews Kpegeol SG, Team Hype, North St.Paul, Rice Street

Kpegeol was one of the most versatile and athletic prospects from this year's Under The Radar Showcase showing great upside as one of the top prospects in Minnesota's 2018 class.

Anthony Davis G, Team Elite, Hopkins, MN Lockdown

Davis was on a mission to score early and often helping lead Team Elite to a early jump on Team Hype. Davis showed great explosiveness in the open court as well as high caliber finishing ability around the rim finishing with 12 pts and 3 ast.

Sam Ingoli SF, Team Elite,  Iowa Elite,

Ingoli was one of the most versatile, athletic and skilled prospects from tgis year's Under The Radar Showcase 2018's game. Ingoli finished with 4 pts but was clearly one of the top prospects in the game.Ingoli displayed great skill and athleticism competing in this year's event.

Daniel Oturu F, Team Hype, Cretin Derham Hall, Pulley/Rice Street

Oturu put the other top 2018 class prospects on alert as he was all over the court making plays on both sides of the ball. Oturu looked much improved from early this spring showing great potential and production during this year's Under The Radar Showcase 2018's game finishing with 10 pts, 6 reb, 3 blk. 

MVP: Anders Nelson PG, Team Elite, Edina D1 Minnesota

Nelson not only was one of the leading scores in with 13 pts, he all players in assist with 5 and took over the game in the second half with 8 pts and game winning plays to puch Team Elite to a major win over Team Hype. Nelson possesses a prototype lead guard skill set with his high caliber play making ability.








Under The Radar Player Of The Game: Goodnews Kpegeol, Team Hype, North St.Paul, Rice Street

Kpegeol did not dominant the game they way he has most of the games this spring finishing with 6 pts facing a team loaded with the top prospects in the 2018 class, Kpegeol did demonstrate that he was clearly one of the most athletic and skilled prospects with his preformance during the Under The Radar Showcase 2018's game.

The Minnesota Twin Cities metro area high school basketball fans are hyped for the summers biggest talent showcase event as the top players from Minnesota face off in a battle with in the classes event to see who's tops. JT Gibson 6'3 PG, Net Gain, Champlin Park

Gibson is one of the top point guards in the state and is and division 1 recruit. Gibson has had a excellent summer preforming against high caliber competition during the spring for Net Gain. Gibson has consistently competed on a high level is on of the premier prospects from the class and demonstrated that ability in this year's Under The Radar Showcase.

Sacar Amin 6'4 SG, Pulley's EYBL, De La Salle

Amin is one of the premier shooting guard prospects in the class, a high flyer with a high caliber shooting guard skill set. Amin is coming off a great spring campaign preforming at high level during the live recruiting periods, racking up a host of offers.

Kyle McKinley 6'10 PF, Net Gain, Stillwater

McKinley is one of the top post prospects from Minnesota's 2015 class, has great regional interest and is a division 1 recruit. McKinley is coming off a good spring campaign for Net Gain and a prospect to keep a eye during this year's 2015 showcase game.

Gillard is one of the top shooting guard prospects in the class as well as one of the most under rated players in the class. Gillard possesses a high caliber shooting guard skill, good size as well as athleticism and should be one of prospects with a point to prove with no division 1 offers on the table.

Gach Gach 6'5 SF, Cyclones, Austin

Hunter is one of most impressive prospects during this spring showing great potential and for Howard Pulley, look for him to do the same thing against Minnesota's other top 2017 class prospects during this year's Under The Radar Showcase.

Wilson is one of the top prospects from Minnesota's 2018 class. Wilson continues to progress into a high caliber forward prospect, showing great production and potential this spring preforming at high level for Future Stars. Delawrence Aaron 6'2 F, 43 Hoops, Hopkins

Aaron is one of the most slept on wing forward prospects from Minnesota's 2018 class. Aaron has been preforming at a level for 43 Hoops during the NY2LA GNBA season the top middle school league in the nation.

This 2018 game brings has a match up of two of top guards in the class play against one another for the first time as Hopkins Anthony Davis faces another high caliber guard prospect in North St.Paul's Goodnews Kpegeol. Another great match up the point guard position is Bloomington Kennedy's high caliber point guard Markel Aune facing off against Caledonia young star Owen King.

This 2018 game brings a exciting match up of 2 young talented front court prospects as Minneapolis North's Odell Wilson faces Cretin Derham Hall's Daniel Oturu. Another high quality front court match up will be Armstrong' s Race Thomson facing off against Cretin Derham Hall's Charlie Dennis.

Under The Radar Showcase 2014

MinnesotaHoopersStandUp, Grassroots Hoops Club and The McCarthy Project will hold its annual Under the Radar Showcase of the top prospects from Minnesota and Wisconsin in coming high school freshman through senior classes. The showcase event will be held on August 8th 2014 at Macalester College, prospects participants are by Invitation only!

Under The Radar Showcase will consist of 10-12 of the Top players on each team playing in "battle with in the class game" From the 2015-2018 battle to see who's, the top prospects in the classes.  8 team 4 games one court. Each participant will be expected to bring a jersey from their high school or summer team of theirs,  we ask that each athlete arrive approximately 1 hour before your scheduled game time with exception of the 2018 class arriving at 4:30.

MYSM 2015 class Top 25 Prosect Rankings

Minnesota has been on the national stage for the past 3 seasons as Minnesota's 2014 class had 3 of the top 30 prospects in the nation, Duke commit Tyus Jones, UNLV commit Rashad Vaughn , and Stanford commit Reid Travis drawing great attention to the land of 10,000 lakes. Minnesota's continues to produce high caliber prospects as the 2015 class is loaded talent with as many as 20 division 1 prospects in class, the class is full of upside and potential. With prospects such as Sacar Amin , Donell Gresham, Alex Illikainen, Marshawn Wilson, Kyle McKinley and Jarvis Johnson this leading the way Minnesota's 2015 class.  has great depth at the guard and wing.


1) Alex Illikainen 6'9 PF, Howard Pulley EYBL, Grand Rapids HS

Illikainen is the most complete front court prospect in Minnesota's 2015 class is considered to be one of the premier power forward prospects in the class nationally. Illikainen has a complete offensive forward skill set, rebounds at high rate,  possesses the ability to dominant most one on one match ups at high competition level. Neumann plays with aggressiveness, competitive nasty streak that you can't teach. Neumann game has progressed in team defensive, more physical of a post defender and rebounder. Dahl played a major role in Holy Family's 27-2 record and state tournament semi final appearance in 2014 season. Johnson thrives in the open court with his athleticism, as well as turning defense to offense with his length and quickness.

Reed Nikko 6'9 PF Net Gain 17s 2016

Nikko will be playing up and getting plenty of playing time to demonstrate his potential. Reed continues to develop a solid overall forward skill set, using his length with greater body control. Reed has many of the physical tools needed to be a high division 1 recruit as he develops his skills over the spring.

Tyler Johnson 6'2 G D1 Minnesota 17's 2016

Johnson continues to progress into more of a prototype point guard. Johnson's play making and ball handling continues to catch up with his elite athleticism and defensive prowess . Johnson could become elite 2016 rising guard prospects in the Adidas uprising tournament series over this spring.

MYSM Class 2015 Top 15 Rankings

2015: Minnesota is on the basketball map, this class continues to show why. The 2015 class is loaded with Division 1 prospects at guard and center with 5 players having Division one offers going into their junior year. This class has a possible 20 plus division 1 prospects.

1) Jarvis Johnson 6'1 PG De La Salle - Elite level guard prospect, dynamic athlete with high caliber guard skill set. Johnson possesses all of the physical attributes and skills that high Division one program seek out,one of the top stock rises in the 2015 class nationally. Johnson has the ability to take defenders off the dribble and finish above the rim in traffic, as well as run the offense, break down a defense and create for others. One of the most handcuffed players in the state.  Running a offense during high that led him to be a facilitator and not a scorer averaging 7.7 points on his way to back to back state championships. Johnson has offers from UCLA, Penn State, Purdue, Iowa State,Creighton Gonzaga and the University of Minnesota, while gaining great national interest.

2) Alex Illikainen 6'10 C Grand Rapids - High caliber skilled big, with great athleticism. Illikainen has a complete offense skill set and play making ability in the post. Averaging 26.1 points the season while being the primary defense focus on every play. Illikainen is a dominant post player on both sides of the ball controlling the paint on the boards and on defense. Offers from Oregon, Iowa State, Creighton, Nebraska and the University of Minnesota. Illikainen is beast and is drawing great national interest.

3) Sacar Amin 6'4 SG De La Salle - Versatile, elite athlete, with high caliber guard skill set. Possesses all physical attributes and athleticism that division one programs seek in guards and wing prospects. Sacar continues to improve and show that his upside is even greater, with his complete transition to shooting guard. Playing at the highest level this season starting for back to back State championship winner De La Salle, as well as starter on Pulley's EYBL team this summer. Amin stock is rising and drawing great interest from Iowa, Wisconsin, UNI and gaining national attention.

4) Marshawn Wilson 6'2 G Hill Murray - Dynamic, explosive combo guard. Overall solid guard skill set with elite athleticism. Can create off the bounce and finish above the rim in traffic with contact. Elite one on one player on both sides of the court. Wilson has offers from Creighton, UNI and Colorado; drawing great national interest.




5) Sam Neumann 6'5 SF Cretin Durham Hall - High caliber, skilled shooter, with with solid athleticism and deep shooting range. High basketball IQ, physical, competitive and can take over games from deep if left open. Leading his team in scoring averaging 16.6 points this. Neumann has an offer from Toledo and drawing great interest from several division 1 programs.



6) JT Gibson 6'3 PG Champlin Park- Overall high caliber guard skill set, with with great size and strength for his position. Gibson dose everything at high level, knows how to control the pace of the game and run a offense. Averaging 11.1 points 2.3 assist and 1.5 steals this season. Gibson stock is rising and could land a few major offers before the end of this summer.




7) Donnell Gresham 6'0 PG Cretin Durham Hall - Prototype, pure point guard, makes other players better as well as possesses great offensive tools. Can score on all three levels of the court and has elite play making ability. Donnell is a lil under the radar from playing junior varsity this past season, from transferring.


8) Justin Dahl 6'10 C Holy Family - Dahl possesses great upside and impacts the game on both sides of the ball in the paint. Averaging 7.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 4.2 blocks. Dahl knows his role and plays it to the fullest having an impact in the post on both ends of court. Division 1 body, Dahl controls the paint, and has that tough nastiness that coaches want in post defenders. Dahl in drawing great regional interest and should be getting some solid offers before the end of summer.

9) Grantham Gillard 6'4 SG Eden Prairie -  Flat out stud, versatile, athletic and skilled. One of the most handcuffed players in the state this past 2013 season, averaging 12.0 points. One top defenders at his position, with solid play making ability. Able to score in the offense, in the open court, and on the bounce and on all 3 levels.  Grantham is 15 and is one of the youngest players the class. Has almost complete shooting guard skill. Grantham is drawing interest from Bowling Green, Butler, UNI and Iowa State.

10) Bjorn Broman 6'0 PG Lakeview Christian - High pedigree, pure point, makes other players better. Broman is skilled from the perimeter and is one of the best 3 point shooters in the state. Possesses great play making ability high energy and has solid athleticism. Averaging 21.3 points, 7.9 assist, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.9 steals in the 2013 season, leading the state in assist, steals and three pointers made. Broman stock is rising and drawing regional interest.

11) Jalen Mobley 6'1 PG Johnson - Explosive, dynamic, scoring point guard. One of the most athletic and explosive guards in the class. Thrives on turning defense to offense and making plays for others in the open court. Jalen has solid perimeter skills and play making ability. Can take defenders off the dribble and finish above the rim in traffic. Averaging 13.3 points 3.2 assist and 1.5 steals this season. Mobley's stock is rising and in drawing interest from several programs.

12) Kyle McKinley 6'10 Stillwater -High energy,  high impact post player. Possesses the physical tools that Division 1 programs seek in front court prospects. Runs the court well and can make plays above the rim on both sides of the ball. McKinley's stock is rising, and should receive so major interest in the near future.

13) Joey Witthus 6'5 SF Chanhassen - Complete player, contributes in all phases of the game. Solid on both sides of the ball, competitive, physical, makes any team better. Lead his team in scoring averaging 16.7 points, with a season high of 37 points. Witthus is drawing great interest from several division 1 programs.


14)  John Warren 6'4 SG Hopkins -High pedigree, high caliber, skilled shooter. Warren runs and spaces the court well, knows how to get open. Works well with the offense and has a high basketball IQ.  Good athleticism, size and length. Before his injury was the 6 man on varsity Hopkins. Warren stock is rising and is drawing interest from several division 1 programs.



15) Carter Asche 6'10 MACCRAY - Long, lean, solid athlete with great size and wing span. Runs the court well and is very mobile and agile for his size. Has great shooting range. Asche possesses all the physical attributes needed to be a high division 1 recruit.
