Top 5 incoming freshmen classes 2016-17 season
The future of every program starts as a freshmen class here's a look into the future of Minnesota high school basketball with the top 5 incoming freshman classes. Few classes come with as much promise as this years freshman 2020 class led by one of the nations elite talents. Minneapolis Minnehaha Academy's Jalen Suggs has already established himself as one the most dominate players in the state. While a host of other high caliber prospects wait to have that type of impact such as Park Center's Dain Dainja, East Ridge's Ben Carlson, Brooklyn Center's Lu'Cye Patterson and Breck's Kerwin Walton all who will have major impacts on their respective programs.
1) Minnehaha Academy 2A
Can you say Red Hawk's 4 peat! Led by the top freshmen guard in the class nationally Jalen Suggs a dynamic prospect, Terry Lockett the top lead guard prospect in the class and high caliber wing Kaden Johnson the Red Hawks have a freshmen class worthy of national recognition. Minnehaha Academy incoming group is as talented as any with a trio who are in their third year of playing varsity. With 3 of the top 10 prospects in Minnesota's 2020 class, will dominate the 2A title for next 4 years. Minnehaha Academy is loaded for the future and look to be primed to be one of the most talented teams in the state for years to come.
2) Park Center 4A
Pirates hit the jack pot as new coach James Ware comes in and with back to back top 5 incoming freshmen classes. A talented big in most classes Dain Dainja would be the top prospect in the class. Dain Dainja has been the most improved player since the end of last spring, taking home the MVP honors at The Twin Cities Under The Radar Showcase. He's focused everybody knows because his body and game are developing at amazing rate at the same time. David Injabimbola is one of the top guards in the class and ready to go day one varsity but will be on the bench, this year with talented upper class men in front of him. Amir Whitlock one of the most complete point guard prospects in the class will have to wait his turn on JV but will be a major contributor for the next few seasons. James Booker solid lead guard will have impact later. Detavius Firerson one of the top prospects in the class leaving was a major lose returning to Chicago after playing varsity as a 8th grader last season.
3) Eden Prairie 4A
The Eagles landed 4 of the top 40 prospects in this years freshmen class, led by one of the top guards in the class and host of front court prospects. One of the most skilled point guards in the class Drake Dobbs has the game to come in and have an impact immediately as the top prospect for the Eagles. A group of front court studs Austin Andrews, Connor Christensen and Lukas Dunford all will be able to make major contributions for the Eagles in the near future.
4) East Ridge 4A
East Ridge gets the top pure post prospect in the class Ben Carlson, who has had a immediate impact playing in the front court this year scoring and defending in the paint with his great size at 6'8. A talented combo guard Kendale Moore is a super athlete who will be able to have impact for the next few seasons. The front court combo of wing Courtney Brown Jr the top wing prospect from the 2019 class and Ben Carlson should inspire state tournament aspersions.
5) Brooklyn Center 2A
Coach McCollister gets the most talented incoming freshmen group in 2A led by guards Lu'Cye Patterson and Rudwan Tahir. Lu'Cye Patterson is one of the top prospects in the class, Patterson has plenty of varsity experience starting last year for the Centaurs putting up major production. Rudwan Tahir has good versatility will have a impact for the next four years returning after playing varsity last season. Also part of the talent incoming group is forwards Robert Riley, Aham Decker and guard Daniel Yates who all will contribute in the near future.
De La Salle 3A
One of the top prospects in the class Drew Irvin a talented point guard, leads the group of freshmen along with front court prospect Jalen Travis younger brother of Reed Travis and Kobe Franks a athletic wing. 5 time defending champions De La Salle Islanders have had a top 5 incoming freshmen class the last 2 seasons 2018, 2019 the top incoming class with the top pure point guard Tyrell Terry, the top pure post prospect in the class Malik Lamin and Julian Wright 3 of the top 30 prospects in the class.
Breck 2A
One of the top prospects in the 2020 class is shooting guard Kerwin Walton. Although the Mustangs don't add much other than Walton, coach Marcus Hill the highest caliber basketball prospect to come to Breck. Walton has shown the skill, size and athleticism to come in and have a impact immediately. The combination on of 2019 stud David Roddy and Kerwin Walton will give the Mustangs plenty of firepower and a chance to make a run to state out of their section for the coming next 3 seasons.
Hopkins 4A
The Royals as usual land a major talent, combo guard Blaise Beauchamp is the first freshmen to start since Amir Coffey did 5 years ago. Beauchamp is a high caliber sharp shooter, with great scoring instincts. Beauchamp is basically the future at point guard for Hopkins which is always a big deal.
Cretin Derham Hall 4A
The Raiders continue to attract top level talent year in and year out. This years incoming freshmen class is led by a very athletic wing Amari Carter and Langston Binns who is one of the more skilled guards prospects in the class.
Osseo 4A
Coach Theisen is not new to talent at the guard position, Osseo get a pair of studs Cornell Richardson and Micah Harut. Cornell Richardson is one the top pure point guard prospects in the class with his ability to make his teammates better and Harut is a solid guard who have a impact in the coming seasons.
Holy Family 2A
One of the top and most complete combo guard prospects in the class Ariel Bland. If unimpeded Bland will play a major role for the Fire sophomore through senior season.

Timberwolves Shootout 2012
This years Minnesota
Timberwolves Shootout 2012 was great showcase .A long day of games at the
Target center. This year's shootout had some high profile Programs from the
region, Powerhouses from, IA, WI, MN and SD.
Championship contending teams and D 1 Prospects and three 7 foot
Athletes. As every team in the shootout has a chance to win Title in their own
state. With 6 games in a row and none stop High school Basketball with an All
Region Top action.

Benilde-St. Margaret's (9-1) #3 MN vs St. Thomas More (5-0) #9 SD BSM won
68-50,
The
defense for BSM was too much for Skye Warwick for STM Player of the game
