MYSM Class 2017 Top 15 Rankings

2017The future is now as the 2017 class enters the 2014 high school season. This class is loaded with talented prospects, that will have a impact immediately on their teams. Overall one of most talented classes to come out of Minnesota. Many of the prospects from this class are drawing interest from college programs before entering the high school ranks.


1) Gary Trent Jr 6'2 SG Apple Valley - The highest caliber prospect in Minnesota's 2017 class, nationally recognized, 3 time national championship winner. Skilled, athletic, elite shooting guard skill set. Trent can create his own shot and is offensively dynamic, able to take over games from deep. Started junior varsity, for the program that won the State Championship. Should get good varsity playing time having a impact, providing instant offense this season for Apple Valley.





2) Joevon Walker 6'5 F Minnehaha Academy - Flat out stud, skilled inside and outside. Walker has great strength, explosive around the rim, solid wing skill set and shooting range on the perimeter. Can take defenders off the bounce and has great touch around the rim when making post moves in the paint. Should start from day one and have a impact immediately at Minnehaha.

3) Gonnar Mar 6'6 F Undecided - Long, lean, bouncecy, athletic, and versatile. Mar possesses elite upside and could be highest recruited prospect in this class in the future. Mar's agility and motor are off the scale, and are tools you can't coach. Can contribute to any varsity team this season and will be making some coach happy this season.



4) Theo John 6'7 C/PF Champlin Park - Prototype defensive forward skill set. Explosive, can play above the rim on both sides of the ball. Has good feet, defensive anticipation, and second jump. Runs the court well and finishes around the rim at a high rate. Should see solid varsity playing time this coming 2014 season at Champlin Park.







5) Jordan Horn 6'1 G Tartan - High caliber combo guard skill set, the best one on one guard offensively in the class. Started junior varsity this season. Can take defenders off the dribble and finish around the rim in traffic. Great body control and scoring instinct.  As skilled offensively as any prospect in the class. Should see solid varsity playing time this coming 2014 season for Tartan.





6) Simeon Davis 6'2 PG Minnehaha Academy - High caliber, high pedigree, prototype point guard. Skilled, athletic, high basketball IQ and the premier perimeter defender in this class. Plays under control,  controls the pace of the game and has good leadership. Possesses all the physical attributes needed to be a high division point guard prospect. Will have a impact immediately for Minnehaha Academy varsity this 2014 season.







7) Isaac Johnson 6'3 SG Minneapolis North - Skilled, versatile, athletic, wing guard. Can score on all 3 levels and can guard multiple positions. Thrives on turning defense to offense and making plays in the open court. Impacts the game without the ball and makes his team better. Started junior varsity this past season. Should start from day one and have a impact immediately at Minneapolis North.





8)  Tyhwon Pickford  6'0 G Maple Grove - Possesses great athleticism, wing span, scoring instinct. Gets buckets, can create his own shot and finish in traffic. Excels at slashing to the rim and finishing in traffic. Can take defenders off the dribble and has solid play making ability. Plays with aggressiveness on both sides of the court. Will be a great surprise for Maple Grove coaching staff and should play solid junior varsity minutes this 2014 season.


9) Jericho Sims 6'1 SF Cristo Rae - Versatile forward with elite athleticism. High energy, high impact, that impacts the game on both sides of the court. Thrives in open court finishing above the rim. Excels at slashing into the paint finishing in traffic. One of the most athletic wings in the class. Sims most likely will start varsity and be one of their better players from day one.


10) Jack Sorenson 5'10 PG Lakeville South - Skilled shooter, competitive, strong,  scoring point guard.  Started varsity this past season, averaging 13.2 points, 4.3 assist and 2.8 steals. As skilled offensively as any prospect in the class. Should be the most important play for Lakeville South success this coming 2014 season.





11) Walt Mcglroy 5'10 PG Edina - Prototype lead guard skill set, with solid athleticism. Crafty plays under control, has varsity level basketball IQ and is a competitor. Played varsity this past season for a team made a state tournament appearance, averaging 4.8 points. Should be the Hornets starting point guard this coming 2014 season and have a impact from the jump.


12) Brennan Hawkins 6'5 PF Minneapolis Southwest - High caliber skilled big, with great touch around the rim. Has the most solid overall front court fundamental skill set in the class. Has great leadership, leading his middle school to a Minneapolis city title. Head coach Tom Weko will have his highest caliber player to come into the Southwest basketball program. Brennan most likely will play 3 half's, starting junior varsity and come off the bench for some varsity playing time.





13) Emanuel Humphrey 6'4 SF Tartan - Versatile, stretch forward with solid inside and outside skill set. Excels at running the court and finishing in traffic in transition. Humphrey is a stud and possesses many of the attributes needed to be a high division 1 recruit. Should contribute solid varsity playing time this coming 2014 season.




14) Brad Davidson 5'10 PG Maple Grove - Solid overall lead guard skill set. Possesses great basketball pedigree, IQ and leadership. Will be playing 3 half this season for Maple Grove starting junior varsity and come off the bench for some varsity playing time.


15) Max McNellis 6'7 C Maple Grove - Long, lean, solid athlete with great size and wing span. Runs the court well and is very mobile and agile for his size.  Possesses all the physical attributes needed to become a division 1 recruit. Should see solid playing time on junior varsity this coming 2014 season for Maple Grove.
