Merto Youth Sports Media Top 15 players Minnesota class Rankings. Based on potential, production, impact on the game, versatility and athletic ability.

This is Metro Youth sports Media look at the top players in Minnesota in 2012 class. This years senior class is led by elite guards and perimeter orientated front court players.  


Class: 2012

1) Marcus Marshall  PG/SG  6’2  St. Paul Johnson – Scoring point guard ,with the ability to always beat his defender off the dribble and collapse the defense, Splits doubles on the norm, elite finisher in traffic and above the rim, has rage from deep but more off a scorer then shooter.  Committed to University of Missouri State

2) Isaiah Zierden  SG  6’3  Benilde St. Margaret’s- Really high basketball IQ, a playmaker who knows how to get his shot off in the offense and make plays for others, can create off the dribble, gets to his spots, timely shot maker who stretches the defense and a good team player. Committed to the University of Creighton 

3) Siyani Chambers PG 6’0 Hopkins- 2012 Minnesota Mr. Basketball  Leadership by example playing with 100% effort Siyani set the tone for a Hopkins Program that dominated Minnesota High school basketball while he played there(122-5) 3 state titles, plays with in the offense a pass first point an sets aggressive pace on the defense. Committed to the University of Harvard 

4) Johnny Woodard SG 6’4 Duluth East – Physically imposing and athletically dynamic, plays above the rim an able to finish with contact, a versatile guard that defends and rebounds averaging 23.9 points and 6.8 rebounds in 2011-12 season has rage but more a volume shooter. College Undecided      

5) Joey King  SF/PF  6’9 Eastview – A wiry skilled and versatile wing big, can score from anywhere on the floor, not able to create off the dribble, but  has good ball handling on the perimeter and able to find his shot with rage beyond the arc, good court vision and also is a playmaker who can pass out the double teams. Committed to the University of Drake 


6) Sanjay Lumpkin  SF/ PF 6’7  Benilde St. Margaret’s – Smooth energetic athletic forward thrives in the open court with the ability to take other front court players of the dribble and create mismatches also has spot up shooting skills, can find other players when driving, an a good free throw shooter making 80% from the line his senior season   Committed to Northwestern University 


7) Zach Stahl  F 6’6 Hopkins –  A complete forward , competitive, all ways finds the ball, smart player with good instincts around the rim, plays with in the offense able to finish in traffic an on the fast break, a capable post an perimeter scorer and defender. Committed to Lehigh University  


8) Dwight Anderson SG 6’3 Washburn -  A intense defender can guard multiple positions, unselfish high energy complete player able to do a lot of things well, capable ball handler and shooter, moves well without the ball, works mostly with in the offense, a tone setter that specializes in turn defense to offense. 9) Ater Manyang  F  6’6 Rochester Century – Long lean versatile athlete with a good motor can impact the game with out the ball, guards multiple positions, strong and physical can finish plays in traffic above the rim,  needs others to create for him but a dynamic playmaker on both ends of the court average 22.2 points this year. College Undecided


10) Tyler Flack  F 6’7 Lakeville North – A smart an competitive player with good instincts , solid ball handling and shooting skills on the on the perimeter, a good motor, works to get mismatches on offense posting smaller players and shooting when front court players don’t guard him on the outside. Committed to the University of South Dakota   

11) Nate Kratch  PF  6’6  Watertown-Mayer – A stretch forward with a quick release, moves around well without the ball an face up perimeter player, crafty when working to get open, gets to his spots an capable rebounder and defender, thrives in open court shooting situations, averaged 19 points and 13 rebounds 3 assist this year. Committed to the University of Santa Clara   

12) Taylor Stafford  PG 6’0 Duluth East-  Dynamic playmaker, scoring point guard with the vision an ability  to breakdown and collapse the defense off the dribble, averaged 23.7 points 6.2 rebounds 6.5 assists and 2.8 steals a game 2011-12 season can run the offense but is an elite one on one player. 13) Gage Deis PF/SF  6’7 Prairie Seeds Academy-  Versatile wiry athlete with good energy an instincts around the rim, has some ball handling skills an can create his own shot in the post, can guard multiple positions, impacts the game on both sides of the ball. College Undecided 

14) Thomas Sjoberg  SG 6’5 St. Thomas Academy -  High IQ player with unlimited shooting rage, works well without the ball and know how to get his shot off averaged 19.9 points this season, has solid ball handling skills and can run the offense with some playmaking ability. College Undecided  


15) CJ Neumann  PF 6’7 Cretin-Derham Hall- A skilled face up forward with good instincts and basketball IQ, plays with in the offense and can play in the open court, finishes around the rim, averaged 17.6 points 7.5 rebounds and 2.1 assets a game his senior season. Committed to Wofford College
