This year's annual Southside showcase held in south Minneapolis featured some of the premier programs in the south metro and some of the top prospects in the state.
First Team
Jalen Suggs 2020 6'2 G Minnehaha Academy
One of the nation's elite guard prospects 8th grade Jalen Suggs has produced at a high level this season. Suggs led the Redhawks to a 67-49 win over Minneapolis Washburn scoring 24 points.
Ade Murkey 6'5 SG St.Croix Lutheran
One of the versatile prospects in the 2016 and productive wings this season so far Ade Murkey. Murkey would not disappoint making major contributions all over the floor while scoring 27 points,14 rebounds, 5/5 free throws the top scoring performance in this years SouthSide Showcase defeating Minneapolis Roosevelt 64-49.
Johnnie Turner 2016 6'4 SG Minneapolis South
One of the reasons why Minneapolis South has been very competitive this season with now a 4-2 record is senior shooting guard Johnnie Turner who has consistently produced. Turner agian would bring his game leading South with 24 points in the 64-56 win over Bloomington Kennedy.
Javonni Bickham 2018 6'6 SF Minnehaha Academy
One of the most complete wing forward prospects in the state Javonni Bickham made major contributions in all phases of the game against Minneapolis Washburn. Bickham filled up the state sheet with 19 points 15 rebounds 5 steals, 3 assist & 3 blocks.
Rodney Jones 2016 6'6 PF Columbia Heights
One of the most impactful front court prospects during this year's SouthSide Showcase Rodney Jones played a major role in Columbia Heights 74-54 win over Blake finishing with 16 points
Second Team
Markell Anue 2018 5'8 PG Bloomington Kennedy
One of the top scoring point guards in the 2018 class Markell Anue produced at a high level at the SouthSide Showcase against Minneapolis South. Anue was hot from behind the arc hitting 5 from deep finishing with 24 points.
Jarrett Babtis 6'2 SF/SG Columbia Heights
One of the most athletic prospects in the state Jarrett Babtis has great bounce and open court speed. Baptist had a good game against Blake leading Columbia Heights in scoring,finishing with 19 points in the win.
Michael Harris 6'2 SF Minneapolis South
One of the most impactful wings at this years SouthSide Showcase Michael Harris was a factor on both sides of the ball playing with great competitiveness. Harris is Minneapolis South leading scorer through the first 6 games averaging 17.2 points per game finishing the game with 22 points.
Isaiah Wade 2016 6'6 F Metro Transitions
One of the most under rated wing forward prospects in Minnesota's 2016 Isaiah Wade is very skilled. Wade would push Metro Transitions to a early halftime lead, but would be become the focus of superior defense finishing the game with 16 points in the loss.
Payton Bowdry 2016 6'1 G Minneapolis South
Payton Bowdry 2016 6'1 G Minneapolis South
One of the most physical & athletic guards in the 2016 class Bowdry makes a impact all over the floor. Bowdry played a major role in Minneapolis South 66-56 win over Bloomington Kennedy finishing with 15 points.
Third Team
Jack Moe 2018 5'10 PG Blake
There was not a lot of positives for Blake in their 74-54 lose to Columbia Heights but Jack Moe fought back the entire game and put up some good production scoring 22 points to lead all scores.
Devin Henderson 2016 6'4 SF Minneapolis Roosevelt
One of the versatile & athletic wings in the Minneapolis city schools Devin Henderson has been doing it all for Roosevelt. Henderson would lead Roosevelt in scoring finishing with 15 point while making contributions all over the floor.
Wendell Matthews 2018 6'6 PF Columbia Heights
One of the most surprising prospects was forward Wendell Matthews of Columbia Heights who showed great potential and production at this years SouthSide Showcase. Matthews made major contributions in Columbia Heights win, putting up a double double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Aaron O'Shaughnessy 2016 5'10 G Superior
O'Shaughnessy showed much heart leading superior to a come back victory over Metro Transitions 47-43 leading Superior in scoring finishing with 12 points.
Elijah Hannah 2016 6'4 SF Minneapolis Roosevelt
Hannah is one of the most complete and skilled wing prospects in the Minneapolis city schools. Hannah had a solid performance against St.Croix Lutheran finishing with 10 points in the defeat.
