Timberwolves Shotout 2013

This years Timberwolves shootout features at least 10 D1 players and some of the best teams in the mid-west this year. This year event featured teams from 4 states that gave the Twin cities a great basketball showcase. Minnesota high school basketball fan came in full support of one the major showcases in Minnesota high school basketball season.

Game 1 #18 Lakeview Christian vs #1 Onalaska (WI)
This match up featured two of the best shootings guards in the region Iowa State commit Matt Thomas from Onalaska and South Dakota State Anders Broman of Lakeview Christian. Onalaska is dominate program winning a Wisconsin state title in Division 2 last year finish 27-1. Lakeview Christian is a good 1A team making is to state last year finishing 25-6.

This game was dominated by Onalaska defense witch had 14 steals in the game and never let Anders Broman get going leading at half time 43-32. Lakeview Christian had a solid game playing hard and trying to push the pace to get Anders free for a shot in the open court and allow Bjorn Broman to make plays in the open court. Onalaska controlled the pace of the game and switched of hard of picks causing Lakeview Christian to turn it over.Matt Thomas had a dominate performance with 23pts in the first half and finished with 43pts 14reb and 3stl. Anders Broman 26 with no makes from deep, BJorn Broman 21pts 9reb came short. Onalaska never really was challenged, had a excellent game plan an exaquted

Game 2 #1 De La Salle vs #2 Blue Valley (KS)

A match up of one the top post players in the nation De La Salle Travis Reid and one the top guards in the nation Iowas State commit Clay Cluster from Blue Valley. Both these programs are dominate De La Salle winning a Minnesota Sate title last year and Blue Valley making it to the title finishing the season 23-2 with four starters back.
De La Salle starts the game on a 8-2 run. De La Salle came out to lead for the first 15:00 of the first half up 15-14. Blue Valley takes their first lead of the game 17-15 and on 18-8 run led by Clayton Custer take the lead into the half 24-19. De La Salle closes the gap as Reid Travis opens the second half with back to back makes in the post 24-23 Blue Valley up. De La Salle takes the lead with a make from deep by Luke Scott 46-44 with 4:50 left in the game. Ben Richardson takes the lead back for Blue Valley 50-48 with 2:50 left in the game. De La Salle ties it up at 50 up wih 1:20 left in the game. Blue Valley hits a 3 to go up 53-50, De La Salle sends Blue Valley to the line after a miss from deep. Reid Travis was dominate with 29pts 15reb, but the clutch shooting and end game execution by Clayton Custer 26 8reb won the game.Blue Valley ends De La Salle's winning streak in a game the was up for grabs to the end.

This game was very competitive as both team battled to the end, Blue Valley gets the win over De La Sallle 57-51.

Game 3 #11 Roseville vs #5 West Des Moines (IA)
This match was well anticipated match of one the most balanced teams in Minnesota Roseville against West DesMoines and Iowa commit Peter Jok a high calibar D1 prospect.
  
This game was a battle from the start neither team hold a lead of more then 5 points until under 8:00 left in  the game. West Des Moines led the first half the game 30-26 at half time. Roseville would tie this game up in the second half at 30and 34, Roseville takes the lead 36-34. West Des Moines  would go on a 10-3 run led by Jok to take the lead 48-41 with 8:00 left in the game. Roseville would cut the score too 55-53 with under 4:00 left in the game. West Des Moines would finish the game strong protecting the ball and making free throws. Peter Jok 34pts 8reb came out to prove a point as he dominated the game. Logan Brown 20pts and Jordan Burich 15pts 14reb would battle to the end. Mackenzie Johnson  not playing in this game had a impact as the Raiders fall short.

West Des Moines gets the win over Roseville 69-53

Game 4 #4 Apple Valley vs #28 Robinsdale Cooper
 The main event as Minnesota comes out to support 2 of the top players in nation and to the Minneapolis metro programs. This games featured  #1 Tyus Jones and #10 Rashard Vuaghn  players in the 2014 class nationally.

Cooper Jumps out to an early lead to start the game up 10-5. Apple Valley would take the lead back 28-27 with 6:00 left in the first half. Cooper takes the lead back going into half time over Apple Valley 36-35. Cooper starts the second on a 16-6 run up 52-41 with 12:30 left in the second half. Apple Valley would return fire going on a 15-4 run to tie the game up at 56 up with 7:40 left in the game. Both teams would exchange the lead Cooper with a 61-60 with under 5:00 left in the game. Apple Valley goes on a 8-0 run to take the lead 66-61. Apple Valley finishes the game on a 20-6 run, Cooper only scoring 6 points in the last 5:00 of the game. Dennis Austin 22pts 12reb  really was a big impact player in this game scoring in the paint and controlling the boards. Tyus Jones 18pts 8ast showed why he's the #1 PG controlling the game down the stretch getting his team the win. Rashard Vaughn 35pts gave his team a chance, with no other players getting in double figures with 21 FG attempts for the team, Vaughn with 33 attempts. Apple Valley's balance attack (Dustin Frunk 21, Harry Sonie 12) and ball movement was in full swing as the get the win in great team fashion.
