Super60 Showcase 2012 at Minneapolis Washburn
The first annual Super60 showcase event was a success
with 4 great match ups. The competition was high and the games where good. The
metro came out in numbers too support this years event, and a showcase they got.
F.A.I.R. Downtown
(12-2) VS Minneapolis North (3-8)
In the first men’s game of the day, we have a rematch of the
first game of the season for both teams. F.A.I.R. fresh of a lose by 5 to Edina , won the first game
by 10 and had no Deonte Blackmore. This game was the only match in witch the score
was indicative of the game and the out come was sure.

Coming into the event most of the hype was around this
match-up. Lakeview’s Anders Broman averaging 48.5 points, coming to Minneapolis playing a
metro team. For PSA this is only their second quality opponent of the season.
Both Team start off fast and the game stay close, 23-22 PSA
up with 10 min left in the first half. Anders Broman has picked up 3 fast fouls
and has to sit. This game seems to be a battle as both teams seem even. Borman
comes back in the game and pick up his 4th foul fast on offense ??

side of the ball and go on 17-3 led by Devin Buckley and Trent Pollard to end
the half.

Robbinsdale Copper
(6-9) VS Minneapolis South (4-10)
This match had battle written all over it, and the stands are full. As both teams coming in
wanting to prove on the Super60 stage that they where more talented then their
records show. This match-up also features Rashard Vaughn class of 2014, who is
regarded as one of the top players in the state.
Both teams come out playing hard and playing good defense
6-5 Cooper Up 16:00 left in the first half. Cooper makes a 7-2 run to go up 21-14. South goes on a 5-0 21-19.
Copper in return goes on a 10-0 run led by Rashard Vaughn up 33-19. South is
getting some makes from deep by Carnell Sheppard, but the end the half down big
42-25.
South starts the second half hot hitting 4/6. Going on a 9-2
run to cut the lead to single digits down 44-35 with 14:40 left in the second
half. Once again Copper returns the run and push the led by their defense.
South’s defense would not let them make another big run. South is scoring led
by Thomas Ford, but they can’t stop Rashard Vaughn 17 points in each half..
Coppers defense dose the job getting stops when needed to hold south back, who fought to keep it close.

Washburn fresh off a big win over Eden Prairie the night
before, get a game on their courts against an under rated Totino-Grace team. Totino-Grace
winning 5 of their 7 games is looking to keep momentum for the season.
Totino-Grace gets a great start to the game going up 6-0 led
by Nick Carr. Washburn would fire back
from deep from everybody 15-3 run to take lead 15-9 with 11:00 left in the
first half. Totino-Grace would keep it close 21-17 7:30 left in the fist half.
Nick Carr would continue to carry his team. Washburn turns up the defense and
go on a 13-2 run up 34-21. Totino-Grace would fight to stay around down 43-29
at the half.
Totino-Grace would get another great start to a half on a 14-4 run to cut the lead down 47-43 with
13:30 left in the second half. This has turned into a battle as Totino-Grace
would back into the game trying to get over the hump. Once again Washburn would
return the run led by Dwight Anderson , who would take over the game. Washburn
calls T.O. up 69-60. Nick Carr is running out off gas, not able to keep up his
scoring pace. Washburn depth and defense is taking over as they go one a 12-2
run to end the game.
